If you only had $500, what would you do to your Jeep?

I'd probably start with a budget lift. I did the Rusty's 2" kit (really just 4 springs and 4 shocks) for <$500 and it does make quite a bit of difference. You should still have a little left over out of the $500 and can find some Rubi rock rails in the "for sale" section to kill the rest. I was shocked how well my JK did with only the 2" lift and the factory SRA's the first time I went out. I can't wait to see how it is with better tires.

Of course, the other really good option would be to get an engine skid so that you don't have to spend money replacing an oil pan.

Buy some basic spare parts like tie rod, and etc.. and keep the rest in case the part you break wasn't the spare one you have

Default my opinion

a winch. cuz even if u have 37" tires u can still get stuck. If u get stuck on 32 " tires u can winch out. 37" tires only give ya 2.5" of ground clearance over 32" tires. if ya haven't got a winch u r still stuck. don't matter how big ur tires are. u can add a winch with ur stock bumper. u do have to buy a winch mount plate first. I think Warn makes one. U probably will need more than $500 to buy a winch new. u my b able to find a good used one for less than $500. I haven't owned a jeep long but I have been into 4x4 for a while now. I'd rather have a winch than any other mod u can get.

first time: rear bike rack, Winch (i.e. SmittyBuilt XRC8), DIY Stock Bumper Winch mount

next time: good tires

then go places

no lift needed just skids, winch, good tires, and skills

I would have my tub linexed. I threw my carpet away and am planning this for my next mod. Carpets should be just an option for Wranglers anyway since they tend to get wet and muddy often.
