Unless you're interest rate is WAY up there, you'd probably be better off putting your $2k into a good mutual fund. With the market rebounding now, you'll make more than your interest rate more likely than not.

New axles and gears and some chromoly axle shafts.... oh and dont forget the driveshafts..

Thats what I would do....

teraflex LA 4"
35" tires
5.13 gears
.......put the rest if any tword the next 6000 to get 37", chromo shafts, new DS and a bumper or two

hmm 6k, well it depends on the type of build you are doing with your JK. Is it a rock crawler, mud bogger, overland vehicle, hunting vehicle, etc...

Full Traction long arm 4" lift kit
5.13 gears
1350 drive shaft replacement front/rear
Off road Evolution front axle sleeve
LOD 4 door sliders

then convince the wife I need to spend another 3k or so and...
LOD front stubby winch bumper
LOD read bumper/tire carrier
Decent winch to go with the front bumper

Well I just spent 4k including labor to get re-geared and lockers plus an or-fab tire carrier and custom sliders, If I had another 6K I'd get a 44 for the front 1350 d/s and 4" springs to ramp up towards 37's
