Actually Jeeps are one of the best cars to buy new due to their very high residual value, in part because they remain aesthetically unchanged for such long periods. Buying used you've paid up front for the depreciation and depending on how much you put down it's quite easy to fall into negative equity. If we're talking buying outright I'm cash, well that's a different story.

Oh yeah I'm 34...

I'm aware of the high residual value, which does make the case for buying used weaker, however you aren't "paying depreciation upfront". It is harder to go upside down buying used because the change in depreciation declines at an increasing rate, meaning you have the highest depreciation when buying new vs if you buy it 2 years old or 4, etc. Obviously as you say though its largely a function of what you put down.

I get to choose my own vehicle as a "company car" for work. Been through a lot of medium sized SUVs over the years but not this time....love my Anvil 2015 JKUR. Makes all the other Ford Escape driving sales reps green with envy. First Jeep, I'm addicted. 45 years old.

46 years old.
Pretty much my only 'car' since I was old enough to afford a car payment. I'm on my third Wrangler (YJ, TJ and now JK), all bought new.

25, turn 26 in a month! All I've ever wanted was a jeep. Last decemeber I went in to the dealership to cash in on a free oil change on my Ram 2500 and ended up driving home with a 2015 Jeep JKU! Wouldn't change it for anything, unless it's getting a jeep sooner!

I just turned 20. I DD my 2015, but it's usually just parked at school. I paid for and installed all my mods.

45 and my first jeep. Wanted one for a long time.
Bought new 2015 in April 2016. Got a nice Deal on and couldn't justify used prices compared to this. Plus dealer bought tires and wheels before I left so that made tire/rim upgrades easier.

I bought this after selling a boat to be a second/play vehicle. It quickly became my DD

Default Love my JK

I'm 43, soon to be 44. My 2 door JK is my second Jeep. Drove a lifted TJ for 10 years. Best vehicle I ever owned. Reliable and fun. Sold it for 11K with 145,000 miles on it. They hold their value.

I'm already in love with my JK. Plan to drive it for many years.

A Jeep is an investment.
