How much did you pay for your Jeep?

Curious what people are payig in the past few weeks or days. I have contacted dozens of dealers and no one wants to negotiate much due to "shortage". Is this true or do I just suck at negotiating. Best offfer is MSRP $26,500 for $24,000.

Its true, the plants closed in 2009 for a long time, and when Chrysler was looking bleak many dealers didn't get orders in for stock, leaving very little inventory of 2009s. Wait a couple months for the 2010s to be around, now that they are showing up on lots I'm seeing the used market drop $1-2K already.

I went to a local stealership first and the salesman wouldn't even consider negotiating the sticker price. I told him to "pack sand" and left. I went to a dealership in the next town (just across the river) and played the game. For a 2009 X with numerous upgrades, including hard top, 368w Infinity sound system, 17 inch tires, and power package, they initially quoted me 29,559.00. I said, "that's nice, but it needs to be 28,000.00 including tax, tag, and title." The salesman went to talk to someone else about my offer and a different guy came out and said, "nope, it's 29,559.00 and that doesn't include tax, tag, and title. We sell these too fast and don't need to negotiate." I told him thanks, shook his hand and left.
I got as far as two intersections down the interstate and my phone rang. When I answered it, it was the initial salesman asking where I had gone. I told her the story (like she didn't know) and said that I was heading home. She told me that I needed to come back. I asked her if I really needed to waste my time to come back and she said, "yes". When I got there, she met me at the door and said, "how does 28,359.00 including tax, tag, and title sound". I said, "I just happen to have $359.00 in my pocket."
Best deal in the world, probably not, but I was happy. So, bottom line, $28,359.00 including tax, tag, and title.
