Getting sued by some ingrate is one of my concerns about towing stuck cars... but I have another legitimate concern as well: getting hit by the car you're pulling out. I can easily imagine some terrible driver being stuck, me hooking up my rope, and then "gunning it" as soon as they start to pull free of the slick stuff - end result, them ramming my Jeep!
Having said all of that, I'm not going to pass by someone stranded just because of my concerns about what MAY happen.
When I was a teenager, I was nearly stranded on a lonely side road when a freak blizzard hit CT. My little Ford Tempo wasn't any match for the 10 inches of unplowed slush on the road, and this was before cell phones were readily available... I would've been screwed if not for the kindness of some random guy who stopped his pickup truck and towed me up the icy hill. Saved me from missing my curfew that night, and probably from freezing to death!
Stop and help your fellow man/woman - you never know how much they might need your help!
