It'll be interesting to see which motor stands the test of time. We already know the 3.8 can go the distance, despite being short on power. It's imperfect but solid and easy to work on. Which motor will prove to hit the 300k's? I'm at 125k and she drives great. I imagine the Pentaster will go far too those are built strong. Which will be the ultra high miler though?

That's because it basically *is* brand new. smh

I guess in the old days maybe a Jeep with 35K miles was considered high-mileage. Of course, I am beginning to think that 35K on a JK Pentastar without any problems might be notable.

I think this thread has really drifted from the original purpose. Everyone is just posting their current (very low) mileage. Are we not here to try and ascertain what happens to the Pentastar engine when it approaches high mileage?

I see basically three kinds of posts here: basically-new low mileage reports, which not shockingly, report no problems; an alarming number of moderate-mileage posts (say, 80K-120K) reporting serious problems, sometimes downplaying what are really terrible reliability issues (failed oil pump, cylinder head cracking, etc.), and the rare moderate-mileage (80K-120K) post reporting no serious issues. I can't say I've read every post but I don't recall seeing any truly high-mileage (say 150K-200K) reports, which is not all that surprising considering the engine's short production lifetime and how frequently JK owners do not use their Jeeps daily or don't keep them for the entire lifetime it would take to accumulate this number of miles.

From my reading of this thread, I figure I will have to be extremely lucky to get anything close to the service life of my JKU that I expected when I bought it without encountering serious and expensive problems. I kept my last car 15 years and would still have it if it weren't totaled in a wreck. I think it's fairly unlikely I'll be able to keep my JKU until 2030, since the risk of the engine grenading before then is just too high and I'll prefer to sell it before I get stuck with a $5K repair bill.

Imagine a Toyota Tacoma & 4Runner forum talking about ordinary run of the mill daily drivers that they are shocked to go 120K without major engine problems or who think failed oil pumps and cracked cylinder heads are acceptable maintenance items within the first 100K. OTOH I bet the Land Rover guys would love to get the kind of long term reliability typical of a JK.

78,000 on my 2012 JKU. One of the heads replaced, front drive shaft and both rear axle seals replaced. All under warranty. Otherwise routine maintenance. Fingers crossed!

Have over 150k miles on a '13 JKU Rubi. Will hit 200k in another two years!
