How to get WAY BETTER MPGs
#11
I've also been recently driving 100km/h, rather than 110+.
Based on my brief testing technique (Flat ground using cruise, and resetting the dash L/100km comp) that 10% increase in speed results in close to 20% worse mileage. I guess that's what happens when you drive something as aerodynamic as a brick
-13.2 L/100km + at 110+km/h ish, to
-less than 11 L/100km at <100km/h.
Totally worth it to me. Takes a while to get used to it, and to deal with "glares" from speeders, but it truly is a lot less stressful and anger inducing

I love those speeder stares or flipping of the bird.......... as they pass me and the family with the top off, doors off cruising in the sunshine & enjoying the mountian scenery! They don't know what they are missing going a little slower.

Why are you turning the o/d off? Turn it on while cruising (that's what it's for) and you will see better MPG. I turn 2500 RPM @ 75 MPH in 6th. IIRC the top gear in the auto is even taller.

He's driving with OD off because he's lifted, with larger-than-stock tires, but no regear... stock gearing is set up for stock tire size - when you go to bigger tires but don't also change your gearing, your power/performance is pretty severely impacted (and much more so with an Auto transmission).

Want to save gas? Keep the RPMs low. On the roads I try to keep my RPMs below 2500 at all times and generally putter around at about 2000 or less.
South Jersey is mostly flat so it's easy to do.
My last calculated MPG was 19.5 city.
