Be honest...Is the JK truly a "hard core" 4X4?

you can build the snot out of a JK and make it off road radical and still have less $$ into it than one of those aforementioned foriegn things. when's the last time you saw "aforementioned" used in a sentence.

ok, more thoughts:
I truely wish Jeep would make a JK option like Chevy does for the WK truck. strip the thing down, soft doors, no carpet, simplified dash, useful windshield down design, etc. get back to it's roots. just say'n, give us a model option that is as basic as my first 1976 CJ5 was.

You wouldn't believe what I've seen the Brits do with these things in Iraq a few years back. They will handle a lot more than most give credit for. But in the US they do seem to attract the rappers and pro athletes.

The US version is depressing, like dressing up an ox in gold chains and silk. Elsewhere in the world, however, G wagons are true off-road monsters.
What I noticed in the first video is that there were a time when he started spinning and then the video was cut. I thought "Did he get stuck? Was he able to get out?" then the last scene answered my question, when I saw his tow line extended and wrapped around his bumper.

I love Jeeps but please don't knock the G Wagon. I've used one to cover thousands of miles in Afghanistan where a goat trail is a road and the G always brought me home safe and sound. The euro model is a beast and I'd love to own one.

don't think boy president would let his epa allow it
look at our bumpers do think they are "trail ready"
epa wont allow diesel either
and a list of several dozen things that would be non-compliant

For those who enjoy a simple or no b.s 4x4 enjoy the current Jeep while you can. Take a look at what we already have, audio controls on the steering wheel, leather seats, color match everything, electronics meant to prevent after-market goodies. It's only a matter of time until we see push button 4hi/4low, IFS, GPS tracking that will disable the vehicle when approaching "off-road"!

I'm not arguing yes or no, just wondering what your thoughts are...
good luck importing one of those.... therefore it doesn't really matter, does it?

Are people seriously knocking the G-Wagen? Yeah it's crazy expensive, but they are incredibly capable. They are front and rear solid axles and have one extra locker over the rubicon with a total of 3. Not to mention the build quality over a Chrysler vehicle. They are all hand-assembled.

There's more to 4x4 than rock crawling folks. I'd take a G over my Rubi for serious overlanding.
