Ive used 50/50 water and vinegar, but the mayflies are a beast to clean off. Its a cheap solution, so i just spray like crazy.

I bought some orange windshield washer fluid that is supposed to help with the bugs but I read the bottle and apparently the stuff is flammable. Not sure if I want that stuff under my hood or on the paint

I've used store bought stuff with just a tiny bit of dishwashing detergent in it, seems to work better. Just need something to make the water a little "wetter"

Old trick is take a big oinch of Copenhagen and put it in your lip, get it all moist and then pull it out and rub it on the windshield and then wash off with water.
It removes bugs, road film, and built up gunk. It also give you an excuse to keep chewing after your woman tells you to quit.
At least thats what the ol man used to tell me.

There is only so much you can do with wiping a flat, thin, rubber plate across a pretty perfectly smooth surface. Something that can 'eat' bugs off would likely be corrosive to some other things (like paint/seals/blades/etc)
