Hill start assist question
I have a 6speed Rubicon and when I'm starting on a hill it sits there b4 rolling back but when i let the clutch out and give it gas it takes a second for the brakes to release so i either start off really jerky like I'm launching it or I don't give it enough gas (to avoid launching it) and almost stall, I've never owned a vehicle with this feature before what is the proper way to start on a hill with it or is there a way i can disable it? I've been driving stick shift cars since I was 16 I've owned nothing but manual cars before and I've never had a problem starting on a hill until now thanks to this feature.

1.Start with the engine off and vehicle in PARK (automatic
transmission) or NEUTRAL with clutch out with wheels straight. Apply parking brake.
2. Start the engine.
3. With the engine running, the brake applied, and the
clutch out, rotate the steering wheel 180° counterclockwise
from center.
4. Press ESP OFF switch four times within twenty seconds.
5. Rotate the steering wheel 360° clockwise (180° clockwise
from center).
6. Cycle ignition switch OFF then ON.
7. If the sequence was completed properly, the “ESP/
TCS Indicator Light” will blink several times to confirm
HSA is off.
Steps 1-7 must be completed within 90 seconds to turn off
HSA. Repeat steps 1-7 to re-enable HSA functionality.

Correct me if I am wrong, but i think I read that the amount of. Fake pressure the hsa applies is proportional to how hard you are pressing on the pedal. So in theory you could use less pressure so you can still move forward during the 2 seconds that the hsa is activated. Not enough hills here in central NJ for me to test this out.

I have a 2012 JK 6speed Rubi and I've never encountered this. I just let off the clutch slowly until I hear the RPMs start to drop, lift off the break and give some gas. Smooth take-offs 70% of the time. The other 30% leaves me releasing the clutch too slow and stalling

I hated it. I have an automatic and if I was wheelin" up a hill and needed to move slightly forward while being spotted I would have to guage when it would let go and try to break early to stop on top of whatever obstacle was in front. Thanks OP.
