Default High/Heavy Wind makes Hood Bubbles

I'm wondering if this happened to anyone yet.

Driving on bridge with high/heavy wind, the hood starts the bubble up and down!

Finally crossed the bridge to check but the hood is secure and closed tight.

I have a 2012 Unlimited.

Quick fix - take out the stupid spring when you open the hood. Should be a screw or 2, then take the spring out. thats whats making it bounce. if thats what you mean by "bubble"

Yes very common. Buy the daystar hood latches for 30 bucks, they fixed mine.

I've seen the hood "bubble" as well, where it flexes and dimples a little. Heavy wind, passing semi trucks, and other conditions have caused this. I just ignore it after this many years.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Jeep!

It happens with everyone's Jeep so don't be worried something is wrong. You have some options, one is too just accept it. It won't fly up it the latches were to break because of the safety catch. Second option is to remove the spring beside the safety catch. This will significantly reduce the flutter. 3rd option is to get some after market non-rubber latches. There is also a zip tie mod on the forum here but I'm not sure what it entails as I haven't done it.

Enjoy your Jeep!

Or you can just remove the spring like I said and save $30

All it does it make it easier to access the safety latch when you open the hood. Totally unnecessary.

simply there to avoid the hood "slamming" down if not held when its being closed.
