Default Help please!!

my brother is tryin to put on his lightbar...genius stripped the screws that the brackets for the bar mount into...what can we do?? weve tried all kinds of magic "fix-its" and its not working...he even managed to break the head off of one of the screws will still in hole

Don't know what fixes you've already tried, but here are a few.

Drill out the screws and tap new threads. You're gonna need new screws anyway.

There are all kinds of EZ-outs, basically a left-hand thread, tapered screw extractor. Slow and easy with these. If you break it off in the hole you have multiplied the problem.


If the screws are on the larger side, you can carefully seat a nut over the broken head screw and tack weld the inside thread of the nut to the screw, let cool and wrench off.

the left hand tapered bit...
drill it out..
cant get a nut on the broken one because its too far in there.

To drill 'em out get a drill bit slightly larger than the hole the broken screw is in and drill through the old hole and screw shank. You will need to cut new threads with a tap and die set.

The screw extractors are available at any decent hardware or auto store. Check these out if you have a Lowes near you.
