Default HELP... high temperature on Jk

Up to what temperature those your JK gets when you’re wheeling?
After a while I was up hill when realized that the temperature gauge was over ¾. Outside temp was about 96°. Even the trail was muddy the radiator was clean. I did got the A/C on, in order to have the fan on (it did helped). Is this normal?

The A/C is most likely what caused it to get hot. The fan will kick on without the A/C.

At 115 degrees here, AC on full blast, ours hasn't crept above the half way point.

The other day it was a bit cooler and I snapped this pic 'cuz someone else on another thread was wondering how the JK was doing in the heat. I'm pretty sure he ended up taking it in and something was wrong.

Bottom line though is I guess it depends on what you're doing but I'd suggest you take it in before you get stuck somewhere!

Ours never goes past the half way mark even when it is 90+ and we are doing slow wheeling.

I think that it is not a "real" temp gauge though. It is just a glorified idiot light. As long as the temp is somewhere within the normal range, it will stay pegged at the half-way mark. It does not otherwise fluctuate if things are normal.

We've wheeled in 90+ temperatures all day long with a/c blasting a bunch of times. Never seen the needle past the 1/2 way mark. I'd have it checked.

Yeah, as mentioned, your JK should be running at about 1/2. My guess is that you might have some air bubbles in your cooling system. You might want to try and burp it or just take it do your dealer to have it looked at under warranty.

Thanks to all. It seems that service will be on course. It’s definitively a hassle to go to have some fun and have be concerned about high temp. What a turn down. First issue with my Jk.

How can this be done? Is there any valve or something? I assume it must be air in the system because it just happens under certain conditions, not all the time.

Thanks.

Well I took it for service @ Alberic and the only explanation I got was that there was mud in the radiator. I consider it wasn’t that cause I have clean my Jk after every time I go wheeling. But that was the only info from Service Dept.

Therefore I’ll see what goes on… thanks to all.

By the way what about the Trail Rated Badge? Is this supposed to happen? Some mud and high temperature.

Miguelylucy, any plans to wheel?
