After the July shutdown week, which I believe is either this week or the next. Ater that they'll be making the 08's.

My wife and I want to get a JK -- and this seems to be the "thousand-dollar" question.

From all of the forum posts I've read, they all suggest vehicles would be arriving sometime in September-October, but there doesn't seem to be any consistent or reliable information out there. This all seems to be second-hand.

This would be helpful to know in making a purchase decision -- and even negotiations.

Also -- you mentioned STARTING to build the JKs. The more pertinent questions seem to be:

1) When factory-ordered vehicles will start to arrive (depending on order date)
2) When general production vehicles will start to arrive
3) If someone ordered an 08 today, what they could expect in terms of delivery time.

Some dude on another forum just got his this week. He ordered it in August. An 11 month wait for this poor guy.

From what I'm hearing I think a lot depends on dealer allocation. There is a dealer near me that currently has 23 unlimiteds on the lot while no one else has more than 6. If I order one, it will likely be from this dealer.

this is a little off topic, but it seems a lot of you have decided to custom order a JK. Is this because there are no JKs in your area? Or do you guys just want things built completely to your preference?

In my case (I live in Chicago) there are 4-5 Jeep dealerships by me and i see a couple JKs (either 2 and 4 dr) on the lots if I so happen to cruise by. So, if i ever decided to buy another i'm sure i'd find one. I guess i'm just not as picky as some.

I want a Rubi, nothing less, I live in one of those East Coast California emission states so my search area is restricted, or at least my choice is, to other CA. emission Jeeps, I'm not gonna melt if I don't get it before Thanksgiving(maybe soon after, but not before), and I am paying around $32,000 so I better be picky and get exactly what I want.

Now excuse me I got to go call DC and find out that I'm still in BX!

my dealer's inventory lists 24 2-dr JK's of which 2 are Rubi's. They list 46 4-dr JK's of which 0 are Rubi's...
