I have to hear it all the time from my younger brother...he keeps calling my JK a hummer...his only vehicle is a POS Mitsubishi eclipse non turbo old body style.

 

Next time you get in an argument just park on his mustang and laugh.

 

My brother owns a dodge ram...when I got my jeep he was like haha ya it's alright but I hbe a hemi and blah blah blah

When I got my lift he said "mine almost taller still...it's cool tho."

Once I added on the bumpers and stuff...it was "my friend saw u in town with ur keep asked if I was jealous...I am ..."

Then one day I caught him coming home (my brother is a loud guy and sometimes just says random stuff to himself) and I caught him say "I wish I had a truck like that.." bahahahhaha

It's jealousy! My cousin has a 99 TJ with a 4inch pro comp lift and when I got my jk he was like cool. Would say stuff like its not like the TJ blah blah blah...now with my lift on he's jealous as hell!

 

I feel the same 'victimization' now owning a JK. I will admit, the majority of JKs on the road are jeep owners, not jeepers, who dont buy into the community and the passion that we all have for the Jeep Lifestyle. Its easy to see with the wave. Though I've been surprised by a few people in the JKUs, unless they're modded, it seems like they are just oblivious, compared to the majority of TJ owners it seems, who are reluctant to wave only because they're under the assumption were in the unfortunate majority.

Its nice to get the surprised wave back, and the feel that you proved someone wrong and still belong.

 

most of my buddies have mustangs and atv's as their toys and always talk crap, but those summer nights come they all say "man if i pay for gas can we go for a ride in the country on the jeep?"... and when they all go riding in their atv's in the winter I say well my atv has a windshield doors and heat so HA!

 

I love the haters... I don't have a real jeep b/c I rock the 4-doors, automatic, hard top with full doors and I have the bluetooth hands free phone... It is what it is don't let it get you down.... in about 5 years the 2017 jeep is going to be so amazing you will be hating on the owners of that Jeep so what comes around goes around.

edit: I love all the 4.0 owners trashing my 3.6... not to mention the 3.8 owners saying the 3.6 sucks b/c of the ticking which I don't have (yet??)... I just tell them the 80 extra horses are hardly noticable LOL

I just joke around saying I am planning a 4.0 swap once my my 3.6 blows

technically yes... but I don't go around hating other jeeps... if they bring the hate I will joke around with them but any jeep I see on the road I wave at them and don't care what they rock or even if they ever take it off road. I am just trying to give the OP more confidence b/c when I got my jeep I felt the the hate from the TJ owners who hated on me for having a 4 door, non-soft top, non-half doors... and it really brothered me for a little but but I got over it... you can't make everyone happy and if you enjoy your jeep more power to you.

edit: I guess my point is... take it like an intiation.. you are new to the jeep faturinity and you are going to be dumped on for a little bit... its just a right of passage and in a few years you will get to dump on some other new members. As long as its not personal and done light heartedly its not big deal.

Owning a jeep is an experience, few vehicles/toys will leave a longer lasting impression on passer-bys, kids in mini vans, boy racers, dads in mini vans, moms in mini vans. Seriously, next time you go by a kid with your doors and top off, and just look at their expression. Plus what else can you drive with a history like the jeep?
