Default Hardtop question

Im looking at buying a hardtop from a local guy here in NJ , but I have no idea about all the hardware i need for installation.

I currently have a 2007 softtop only.
I know I going to need the wiring harnessfor the defroster and the wiper, but other parts does he need to give me for the install (claps screws etc)

I want to drive over there and just throw it on the right way

thanks

The only parts you really need are:

1. Inserts that go under the body rail that contain bolts in them. This is how you screw the hardtop on.

2. the six screws to bolt the top to the body.

3. Two large hand screws that go through the soundbar into the hardtop.

That should be it. I bought a factory hardtop after the fact also and that is what I got with it to mount it to the vehicle. Other than that you can buy the wiring kit if you want the rear wiper/washer and defrost to work!

Thanks Tackindy

How many rail inserts to you get ??

I'll probably pass on the wiring harness
sounds like a real pain in the A$$ unless I want to bring it to the Stealer and get ripped off

Should be 3 per side for a total of 6. They're little silver and plastic mounting holes. They slide under the flat part of the body sides between the carpet and sheet metal. Line up the top, screw in your bolts and you're good to go.

If you were doing the wiring harness and washer fluid hose, you would plug that into the receptacle on the back, but you can skip that step on yours since the wiring isn't there.

Don't forget the two bolts on top of the sound bar ( at the front upper corners of the top). These holes are threaded already into the bar....

Thanks for the info. it looks like I will be buying this hardtop this weekend.

Now for logistics...
seller is about 30 minute drive from my house

How do you recommend I pick this up

1 - I can drive there in the jeep and pop the top on but then I have my soft top underneath and from what I have been reading, I would have to take the hardtop off again to get the soft top off -

2 - drive up there with softtop already off and just pop it on - (weather permitting)

3 - pick it up on my friends trailer and pop it on when I get home

I think it might be a pain in the a$$ to do go with your first choice. I'd go with your second option if you've got all the hardware. #3, I'd be worried about the top getting all scratched up.

I would do #2.

It is supposed to be warmer this weekend, so the ride may not be too cold. If you go there and have to put the top on your vehicle, you will be sure that you are getting a complete top.

If you are keeping the top on you will want to remove the soft top, but since summer is coming you may want to just leave it in. The factory ships them this way and they are fine. You won't do any damage in 30 miles.

Definitely #2. Just crank the heat up if it's cold on the way there.
