Default Hardtop adhesive

Anybody else having a problem with the black sticky hardtop adhesive? It seems like every time it gets above 75 degrees the stuff liquefies and becomes a big sticky mess. It's all over the area where the windshield frame and door meet by the front corner of the hardtop panel on the driver's side. It's hard as hell to get that crap off once it solidifies again.

Yep, that's what I'm talking about. The stuff is almost like tar. I may just live with it. My hard top doesn't leak and I really don't want anyone messing around up there.

Edit: I don't meet the conditions for the tsb anyway as mine is hardtop only. I have some Goo Gone, maybe I'll just give that a shot.

I don't have that problem either and it's been 92 degs everyday for two weeks almost, Mineral Spirits will remove it without hurting anything else, paint or otherwise. NOT Lacquer Thinner, too hot! Just Mineral Spirits basic 101 paint thinner from WalMart or whatever you have local.

Yep, your pictures in that thread are exactly what mine looks like. This morning I go to open my door and the door seal comes right off because it is stuck to the A-pillar by the sealant that has melted, leaked onto the seal, and then hardened overnight as the temp cooled. Dammit.

How hard was it to get that crap off ?

same problem here, wrecked a nice white T-shirt taking the hard-top and storing it from this tar crap

Well, tomorrow taking the JK for an oil Change and door adjustments and getting the A-pillar cleaned! Hopefully what have this happen again!

wasn't hard to get it off - just used bug and tar remover and some elbow grease - it was just a pain to have to do it.
