Hard Steering

Hard Steering
After playing in the snow and ice last weekend I noticed my steering was a bit hard. I looked under the vehicle and saw ice all over the front suspension so I figured it was just frozen so I didn't use the jeep for a few days waiting for the weather to warm up. So Wednesday after work I start the jeep and the steering is very hard. I check underneath and no more ice. I open the hood and check the fluid, all is good. I jack the jeep and put it on stands and the try steering from the outside. I grab the wheels and can easily turn them right and left. I get in and start the jeep and try steering from inside, jeep still on stands. The steering shudders a bit and it is easier to turn left than right. Since I now think it must be the pump I look to the if the pulley is still spinning the shaft, it is. So my question is. Before I replace the pump, is there anything else besides the pump (limiting valve or something else in the line) that could cause this? I can bring it to the dealer but the dealers I have dealt with in my area give me a hard time because I have abused my jeep a lot.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
