Had a soft top on my TJ have a hard top on my JK. Both have their pluses but I really like the freedom tops. A hoist is a must have with a hard top for me though.

my jeepw as shipped as a hard top model..
I bought a soft top the next week.

I prefer having the soft top installed but I enjoy the security of the hard top.

To me, both are crucial, but If I could only have one, I would pick the soft top.

The hard top is worth zero when your away from home and its begins to rain.
With the soft top, at least you can take it with you when you choose to go topless.

I just think the Jeep (when not topless) just looks much better with a hardtop on. Everyone has their own preferences though.

I have the hard top, soft top, Safari Top and Duster. I love 'em all for different times of year. If I had to choose I would vote soft top, just for the versatility. Of course the hard top plus adding a Safari top/Duster as an inexpensive add on is good too.

Need the hard top for winter, and I would go topless, but I need the soft top to keep the frost off the seats, during the annual week of summer.

topless always looks best. After that the hardtop is pretty cool, but when you want to take it off it is a pain in the butt. So my vote is for the soft top because of the versatility and functionality. Quick to come off and complete covered when needed.
