Default Half doors vs no doors?

Just wondering what look ya'll prefer (2 or 4 door), top down and doors off, or top down with half doors?

Never seen it in person but in the photos I really like the half door look. When it comes time to get mine, I'm hoping the dealer will have one in stock just so I can see it in person. It looks good with the doors off too, but the half doors just make it seem a lot more "Jeepier". Is it worth doing the special order for half doors if it's not in stock? Or is it better/cheaper/easier to just get the full doors and take them off if I feel the need? Can you still order the power package with half doors? You won't have power windows, but the other things like locks, etc..?

I love the look of half doors; and there is no doubt they would be prefered for wheeling, but there are draw backs to them also...

You cannot get the power pack with the half doors; that would not keep me from getting them though...

I ordered the full doors for a couple of reasons. There will be plenty of options for tube doors, or even molded half doors in the future, and I still can take the full doors off until more of these options are available; some already are. I live in an area that gets a decent amount of snow, so the full doors just work better long term in those conditions. I also wanted both the hard top and soft...

With soft uppers (half doors), why would you bother to lock it anyway? If you get half doors, you'll have only a soft top. You can unzip the windows from the outside if a thief were to take the time, otherwise slash the windows or top to get in. It gets back to the "keep the honest - honest" thing. Prolly better to go the route of keep things out, or get a trunk box to lock things in, so you don't have a false sense of security of thinking the doors are "locked".

So what would be the benefit of power on a half door?

My insurance guy told me that in the event something was stolen from my jeep they would cover it if the jeep was locked. Whether it had a roof on or not. Its weird.

Other thing is the Jeep security system (if equipped) still works with the top off. At least it will make noise. It gives some level of comfort.

I love the look of the 1/2 doors. I wish I could of gotten them, but I was too impatient to wait for one.

I'll just have to live with no doors at all.

Half doors are more convenient (easier to take off, and store), but full doors work great too.

I like being able to crank my windows at toll booths and such, as opposed to unzipping them.

Look wise, the half doors LOOK better than no doors. But i'm sure you wont get the full No-Door effect

No-Doors = SMILES

Amen. My alarm scared off a would be thief who smashed a window this past week....when I was visiting friends in Houston I might add.

Well out of the power options I like the keyless entry.. the last time I had a car where I had to use the key, I ended up with a door full of scratches .. kept missing the key hole :p And even though I'd have half doors I woul still mostly have the top up.. and my area isn't so bad but it's still not the best idea to leave stuff unlocked. I would probably just take it down for longer trips to the shore or camping or whatever. Plus when it gets real hot out, I can't drive anywhere without the AC blasting

But I can see the point of not having power stuff for half doors. So on that note, when the top is up, how much of a pain are the windows to open? If you unzip it does it flop down all over you when you're trying to reach for your cash at the drive thru? Do they unzip and come off completely where a typical 7 year old might accidentally somehow find a way to lose it during a long drive?

I was convinced I wanted to get myself a hard top or dual top, but I'm starting to lean more toward soft top now and if I do that I'm starting to think I may as well just order it with the half doors too since it's no extra charge... If I really didn't like it, there would be a way to put on full doors later if I can buy them aftermarket/2nd hand, correct?

Most guys on here with soft tops believe that keeping your jeep unlocked with no valubles in it will allow a would-be theif to get in without slashing your windows (costing you a couple hundred to replace). Which is why many jeepers don't lock their wranglers.

I'm not sure if there are aftermarket full doors out there, but if you can find a second hand door set, it should just slide right into the hinges.
