Guess what happened to me today
At about 10:30 I get a call from my salesman. He says that my Rubicon just came in today. GREAT!! ah, not really. 2 weeks ago he called and said it wouldn't be built till mid March. So, I give him a call. He tells me he doesn't know what happened because last week he got an e-mail saying that it wouldn't start being built till 1st week in March. I was banking on at least the next 3 weeks to sell my TJ. I also have a Liberty to sell, but I was settling on taking a hit by trading it in. Well it turns out it's going to be a bigger hit then I thought, but still doable. We discussed my situation and said he would try to help me out by maybe finding a buyer. So I ask him, how much time I got. His reply, "Till the end of next week." How am I suppose to sell 1 to 2 vehicles in less then a week, I'm not a car dealer?
On a side note, he took me into the detail shop to see the Rubicon. First thing I notice, a dimple dent from the underside on the front on the hood. Looks like the screw they used to attach the hood latch was too long and hit the sheet metal. Of course he gave me the standard line, "Oh, I didn't even see that. Don't worry, we'll take care of it, you won't even know it's there." Other then that, everything looks fine, even the door hinges and the windshield frame.
By the way, anyone looking for a 05 Liberty or a 99 TJ for a great price?

Let's sound this out.
Start build---mid March
End build---one week later, give or take.
Deliver---one week after that, at least.
That would just about put us into April. It's still Feb. Thanks for playing.

I had a similar scenario.
This is what I did....
The day I ordered my Jeep, I put my other car up for sale - I listed it on a Forum like this - But I said in my ad that it will be sold in a few months.
I got at least 6 people wanting to buy my old car and would wait the 4 months until my Jeep got delivered.
When my Jeep was on the train, I contacted one of the buyers and he bought my car.
Good luck.
Paul
PS - MY BACK UP WAS CARFAX - But luckily the car I sold was in great demand....

It might not be a total loss, I'm getting alot of interest in all the aftermarket parts on it, but I really don't want to go through the hassle of tearing everything off and putting stock back on.
