Greedy Dealerships !!!
Hello everyone, it's my first post here and I thought this whole jeep ownership thing was going to be a good experience, but so far I'm not a happy camper. First off I never knew getting a hold of one of these vehicles, ( 4 door Rubicon, 6 speed, silver) was going to be such a project. I figured go in w/ my $ and pick out my Jeep from a lot full of Rubicons since I've driven by dealerships and seen the lots full of Jeeps. Well I was told, "good luck" there are none within the 400 mile radius from San Diego. I'm thinking thats bs, It's not like I'm trying to buy an Ezno Ferrari.
Ok, I tell the guy, (he's the fleet guy, I was told to go see through my work) what do I do? "Order one". He says and says it will get here and your price will be $31,200 will all the stuff I wanted. My GIG, 6 speed, silver, tow package, etc. I give him a deposit, he gives me some paperwork with some order number and I leave.
A month later... My wife and I are driving by the dealership and I see a white 4-door in the lot. Hmmm I told the wife, what about white. She says its your call. I stop and look into the window and see it's a 6-speed. No MYGIG, but I can always put an Alpine aftermarket NAV and throw a tow pack on it. I see the sales dudes hauling ass to my location. I'm thinking cool, this will work and speak to the first guy that makes it to my location, ( he must have been a non-smoker as the smoker salesguys were quite a ways back still) .
I say hey sales dude, I'll take this one and proceed to whip out my deposit paper work with my fleet price on it. He says I only have this one in the lot and it's going for $35,000 PLUS $5,000 for a premuim charge. After having a heated conversation with this greedy bastard, he says for my $31,200 price you will have to wait until yours gets here from the factory and pound sand !! I asked him to test drive it and that was also a no-go. Some bs about putting miles on it.
My wife and I leave disgusted with this whole F*ucking process. I have purchased 20 plus new cars in my time and even ones that supposedly were hard to get and had a premium price, including a Honda S-2000, a Mitsubishi Evo-8, and all were purchased at or below MSRP after a few months of release and have never been treated this badly.
So I guess I'm at the mercy of the Jeep factory if I decide to stick it out.

I went to 2 dealers to get mine, bought from the 2nd one, the first didn't have the color i wanted. I took a test drive at both dealers. NO TEST DRIVE is BS, how far are ya going to go maybe 4-5 miles?
Mine had 32 miles when i bought it, some of those where from me.
Any idea on how much longer of a wait?
IMO waiting is better than getting something that doesn't have everything you want, and paying more for it.
Hold out if you can ... it's worth it.

Test drove one...went back "You cant test drive it again, because of miles" Yeah they are pulling that BS . I ended up getting them to take almost 2g off a sticker on a 4x4 Sahara...and took it home in 2 days...

Just be patient!
I went to the Jeep dealer right before Christmas 2006, and was looking for a 2-door JK. When I saw the one I wanted, I asked what kind of deal they were willing to work out. The salesman told me that the new Wranglers were SO popular they weren't offering any discounts. I told them thanks, see ya! I was still driving my 2006 Murano with just over 10,000 miles on it. Two days later, the salesman called me back with a $1,500 discount on the one I wanted plus they only charged me $995 for the dual tops, since I only wanted a hardtop and they didn't want to remove the soft top. So I ended up saving almost two thousand. Eventually, the price will come down when supply meets demand. Don't allow dealers to gauge consumers with markups also called ADP's or Market Value Adjustments, all the same... dealer profit! Buy somewhere else!

Call Jeff at Don-a-vee in Placentia, Ca. I dont know if he can help you with a Rubicon or not but he is a pretty straight shooter and a member of this forum. At the very least he'll tell you what he can and can't do.
PM him for his phone # and explain your situation. He's only 1 1/2 hour drive from you.

The first one I drove was at the dealer closest my home. When I explained to him about my back problems and finding it difficult to get comfortable in many vehicles, he tossed me the keys and told me that they closed at six (it was before noon). I eventually bought from another dealer since the first guy didn't have, and couldn't trade, for what I wanted. Also, I didn't want to wait for an ordered vehicle. Got what I wanted, but the dealer I eventually bought from was a disaster.............bad sales experience and nonexistant after sales customer support. If this dealer seems bad to you before you even get the vehicle, I'd get my deposit back and go elsewhere.

do you mean for the entirety of 2007? We were planning on ordering a 4 door rubi in about 4-6 months. does that mean we cant get one? or that we will receive a 2008?
