Default GM says bankruptcy excuses it from repairs

Rut row! Sign of things to come with Jeep and Chrysler not honoring warranties? Obama said all warranties would be valid but now that the Chevy Impalas of 2007-2008 are coming up bad, General Motors refuses to fix them. This will happen with Chrysler too! Bet money on it folks. Good luck with the 3.8 liter engines!

The way I read it New GM is willing to honor the warranties of Old GM. However, this particular issue is outside the warranty--which is why New GM says the case needs to be brought against Old GM.

Wait, wait, wait. So you are saying a politician said something that later turned out to not be true. Well I'll be darned. I did not see that coming.

And U.S. automakers wonder why people don't want to buy their cars anymore...

This is an oddball case which falls out of the scope of a normal warranty claim. I own an '06 Impala which I bought new, 111,000 miles on the clock. NO tire wear problems whatsoever. As a 35 year veteran in the car business I can tell you that there are many people and their attorneys who are looking to get any issue covered on their cars. ANY issue. Worn tires are a maintnance issue, which is corrected by adjusting the suspension components to minimize wear. General Motors DOES NOT manufacture vehicles that have non-adjustable alignments. Some components have the proper specs built into them. These don't change unless damage to the component has moved it out of spec, wear has moved it out of spec, tire compounds or DRIVING HABITS have worn the tires out prematurally. As far as the imports having better warranties, that is BS. I've seen GM goodwill many items thousands of miles out of warranty. I'm also aware of many warranty items 50 miles out of warranty on imports that were not covered. A good friend owns a Hyundai with the 10/100,000 warranty. He told me he could buy his next vehicle with the money it is costing him to maintain the ''warranty'' on his Hyundai. It has interval requirements on the maintnance to keep the warranty in effect. 40,000 miles and he has been required to change the timing belt ($700.00), plugs, etc etc. Remember folks, TIRE WEAR IS NORMAL. Alignments MINIMIZE it, but don't ELIMINATE it.

I think the issue is not what is wrong with Impalas, the issue is that the "new" GM decided that whatever the "old" GM was responsible for is not their problem. The "new" Chrysler could use a similar position to deny lifetime warranty service down the road.

How are you folks conflating warranty work with this? This is NOT a warranty issue. If GM had never gone bankrupt, they would still not pay for these repairs.

To be honest, based on your post count you appear to me to be a troll. I'm outta here.

Did you read the article? What the woman wants is beyond the written warranty. New GM will honor all written warranties. Will they just fork over money because some gold diggin lawyer asked them to? No! Maybe it was a bad design and the problem is actually GM's fault. Because it's outside the scope of any written warranty, the lady needs to sue Old GM.
