Default Geez... mechanics...

Well, since my local 4X4 repair shop just told me that my Dana 30 front axle is a Dana 44, I suppose I won't be taking it to them to do my gears.

I walked into a shop last week. Stated 07 Jeep Wrangler JK, front axle shaft u-joint.
"not in the system" the guy behind the counter stated.

Are you 100% sure it's not a D44? Are you simply assuming it's not because you have an X? Some 07s have front d44s... it's also possible the factory installed the wrong axle.

Pretty sure... I compared it to the write up here: http://project-jk.com/jeep-jk-tech/j...er-axle-basics

and it looks nothing like my rear diff, which I understand to be a Dana 44

Ok. I was just playing devils advocate. Still... It would've been cool to find out you really did have a front 44!

Everyday I wake up and hope for a split second that a Jeep-Genie magically swapped a d44 or 60 into my JK
