Default Gas cover Chrome or Black

I have an 08 Red Rock Sahara.......what are your thoughts on a gas cover?

Black or Chrome?

My wife said that she went into Walmart and when she came back our gas cap was off? I think a cover would somewhat deter them...."out of sight, out of mind".

What do you think?

Black or Chrome?

thanx

Personal preference but I would go for black. It'll look good on the Red Rock.

A cover will NOT deter a thief. Get a locking gas cap from the dealer. I prefer black covers but will spend my money on more needed mods.

I believe the cover will somewhat act as a deterrent. "out of siight, out of mind",
however I got mine to prevent dirt, mud, snow and ice from getting into the area of the gas cap. It works nicely for that. Not one who likes chrome, I got it in black. Very easy to install, and I think it looks good on our black JK 4dr.

Yeah if you could post a pic that would be great! I was leaning towards the black one...and looks like the consensus is BLACK!

Where's the best place to get one? Ebay? with the Jeep logo or just get a black plain one?

BLACK!!!! And a locking gas cap it a great way to go; but a locking cover is better as long as it's not just a 3m taped stick on!

Did she notice the gas gauge? With 87 at $3.30 a gallon around here, I'm a bit nervous about siphoning. I'm thinking of a black cover with a locking cap underneath.

I vote black.

Also, get either a locking cap or a locking cover. What I will say is that most people won't know that a cover isn't locked. On most modern vehicles, there is no evidence that it is locked from the outside, but you have to flip a switch on the inside of the cab to get it open. I really think a lot of people will make the same assumption about the Jeep cover.
That being said, I picked up a locking cover from the worlds favorite auction site. It was $65 shipped. It screws into the plastic surround around the filler hole. No, it's not all that secure if someone really wants to get in, but it will be a decent deterrent.
