Tell that to my dad. He's got 185,000 miles on his 1990 Chevy Astro, original engine and tranny. And his dad had an old 80s GMC pickup that we called Old Red. The thing was a ranch truck and a work horse and went for a couple hundred thousand miles before it gave up the ghost a couple years ago.
GM's transmissions are phenomenal (unlike Chrysler's, which break after 10,000 miles or turn your Jeep into a carbecue).
This merger can't happen fast enough IMO.

Why would they make it IFS? That would be suicide for the Wrangler, if they left the axles alone and just added GM drivetrain......

GM needs to shrink; lose the brands that have no real value anymore. Pontiac, Saab, Hummer, GMC etc. Having Dodge and Chevy trucks under one roof, would not do them any good.
