Tell that to my dad. He's got 185,000 miles on his 1990 Chevy Astro, original engine and tranny. And his dad had an old 80s GMC pickup that we called Old Red. The thing was a ranch truck and a work horse and went for a couple hundred thousand miles before it gave up the ghost a couple years ago.

GM's transmissions are phenomenal (unlike Chrysler's, which break after 10,000 miles or turn your Jeep into a carbecue).

This merger can't happen fast enough IMO.

I see an IFS under a wrangler and I will vomit. Why can't it be Toyota, Honda, or Nissan? Hell even Hyundai. GM Won't make anything better.

I cant believe its still running after that many miles in that short of a time frame! But its still chugging!
Your dad must drive A LOT. Does he have a 3-hour commute or something?

Why would they make it IFS? That would be suicide for the Wrangler, if they left the axles alone and just added GM drivetrain......

The Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300 are both on Merc' platforms. I am of the opinion that they intentionally put Chrysler downmarket as so they wouldn't compete with 'Benzes higher end products. Also, the 6-speed in the JK, it's a German transmission.

GM needs to shrink; lose the brands that have no real value anymore. Pontiac, Saab, Hummer, GMC etc. Having Dodge and Chevy trucks under one roof, would not do them any good.
