Why would two lousy companies combine to be one lousy company? Who has the assets to buy the other? What financier would back this, especially when the financier at the moment is the guvm't. Mergers only happen when there's clearly a positive return for the group who's supporting it. A merger will not happen. GM sucks. Chrysler sucks. It'll take pure genius to fix either company's woes and a merger would be the furthest thing on any investor's mind.
