Default Full traction warning

now lets start this by saying i love my ft suspension and am a huge fan of there build quality and designs but........

i have the 3 inch preimum lift (with non adjustable lower arms)

i decided i was tired of the squeeking and grinding sound i was hearing after every offroad adventure. i took off the front lower arms and decided to see if i could tear them down and rebuild them. what i found was kind of upsetting.

the front of the control arm is a kind of rebuildable joint. not having new parts i took it apart just to clean and re grease. what i found was a mess. the grease i installed via the zerk fittings never made it to the ball joint. the joint started to wear into the bushings, and the scariest is the large metal washers that are between the bushings and snap rings were bent so badly that it would only be a matter of time before they just poped out.

i am not gonna lie i beat the hell out of my jeep but damn makes me a little nevrious knowing that i could have lost the joint while driving down the highway.

You are helping me with my suspension dilemma. I just emailed Dave at Northridge to get advice and my concern with the FT kit was the heim joints. I'm assuming that is the joint you are referring to, is it not?

I liked everything about the FT kit except the heims. Every rock rig I've been around with heims was always noisy with slop in the heims. I'd be interested to see what others think.

I was considering tera verus RE because of the cartridges, but had not dismissed the FT yet until I got some real world experiences regarding the heims. Everything else on the FT looked very beefy.

I've had great luck with the cartridge style johnny joints from rubicon express. My prior 1 ton TJ had custom links that I made using the RE joints and never had an issue.

I'll be watching to see what others say.

I can say I have not had any issues with my lifts, I ran the Ultimate kit for 26,000 miles until I totalled the JK, even ripping the front axle out, the joints we're fine. Everything was tight with no noise.

I only have about 3,000 on my long arm. Its a smooth running kit, Give FT a call.

the joints on the long arm and premium are hemi joints. the ones on my lift are a type of rebuildable johny joint (actually the same ones on the upper front of the ultimate arms)

i am going to upgrade anyway as soon as i have more money. this is more for other people who have the same suspension to check their joints.

please put back in the modified section to inform people!!!
