Persomally I think this thing is sweet! The only thing I am not to crazy about is the spare tire holder but that can be removed! Check it out for yourself.

No.

They did a concept vehicle in '05 (link posted above), and apparently skunkworks did a one-off as well, that is all i know of. Everyone keeps reposting the same links to the same articles. I havent seen a new one in a long time now. Just do a search here, there are alot of threads pointing to the same 1-2 year old articles.

Dont get me wrong, i love the thing. I would have bought it over the Wrangler in a millisecond if it was actually available as a production vehicle. I hope, I hope, I hope they DO make it, I will be in line for one instead of the Rubi i have in mind to replace my current Sahara. I just havent heard or seen anything new about it other than the two i had mentioned above.

But future looks uncertain:

"The decision to shelve the product also marks the second time in two years Chrysler has passed on a Jeep pickup. The Scrambler concept, which debuted at the 2002 Specialty Equipment Market Assn. (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, briefly was considered for production before the auto maker nixed the idea."

Well after doing a google search on this Jeep for new intell (which came up negitive) I decided to make contact with jeep. To my suprise they responded back with in a few hours with the following message. The letter content was a little bit above my intellegence level so I will post it to let some of you brainiacs decifer it.

Dear Greg:

Thank you for contacting the Jeep Group Customer Assistance Center
requesting information on the Jeep Gladiator.

Chrysler would like to thank you for your interest in the Jeep
Gladiator. Though the decision has been made to forego production of the
Jeep Gladiator concept vehicle, it does not mean that the Jeep Gladiator
will not be considered for production at a future date. With constantly
shifting market trends I would hesitate to discount the possibility of
new products on the horizon, specifically designed to suit your needs.

Preview images of the Jeep Gladiator concept were released in late 2004.
It made its official public debut at the 2005 North American
International AutoShow.

We genuinely value consumer feedback, and encourage you to keep in touch
for future updates regarding Jeep brand and its exciting product line
up.

Thank you again for your email.

Basically it means not for sale at this time. May never be for sale but we could put it into production if we change our minds. If we do put it into production there will be some changes just like the Rescue concept versus the 4door Wrangler. Thank you for contacting us now go out and buy a jeep so we can get richer.

One of the reasons they will probably never make it because it will likely only cannibalize sales of dodge pickups and jeep wranglers. I would think they believe it is unlikely to bring a significant number of new buyers to the brand. I'm just speculating here.
