Default This forum - Amazing

I have been off-roading for a bunch of years. I am, however, new to Jeeps. I can overstate how helpful this forum is/has been.

You guys ROCK (pun intended).
Thank you.

Oh and this should be in talk.
LOL!! I'm glad to hear you like the board overall inspite of the "mildly annoying quirks" we have. But you know, you could always start up your own forum and run it in any idealist way you want. Certainly, this is still America and you do have that right

It might be helpful if you create a sticky explaining some of your policies. It would keep people from making assumptions, since I think the assumption is usually that there's some kind of conspiracy, which I have to assume is not the case

For example, it seems a little bit heavy handed to obfuscate links or mentions to "competing" forums. I'm sure there's a good reason for it, but from our point of view, it just makes it a pain to have to hand-edit a URL to see a post or an image or whatever.

Also, I know there was a long thread on pimping products from non-sponsors, "spy shots," etc. It might be good to just summarize that discussion so there's no confusion or frustration.

I love this site just the way it is. It is really well run. It has class( most of the time. hehe) Eddie is very approchable(sp). The moderators are very helpful as well as everyone one on the site. I'm not a computer whiz so I don't have a clue what a url is. But I don't see anything wrong with it. LOL It is informative, well laid out, easy to go from post to post, and it is just a hole lot of fun. Eddie you get a raise. We get this for free people. Thanks to Eddie and the gang that runs it. David

So far as I'm concerned, people can make whatever assumtion they want about me or my rules as I have no desires to try and convince people of anything. If you find the information we have here to be useful and/or enjoy being a part of this great community, I'm glad to have been able to provide it for you. And, if you don't like the way I run things, well... what can I say, this is a free country and you don't have to stay

For one, not all competiting forums are obfuscated. For two, the ones that are, are "competiting" forums. And, so long as the bills that keep this forum online are paid by me, I don't feel I should have to tolerate the open promotion or solicitation of any competing website. So far as I'm concerned, this forum is not some kind of democracy with unconditional, constitutionally protected rights but rather, it's my home and the people here are my welcomed guest. If you don't like the way I choose to run things here, you can always leave. In fact, I would encourage you to do so or start your own forum so that you can make it in whatever idealistic image you want. This is after all a great free country and we do still have that right. The only thing I ask is that if you're gonna stick around and take advantage of the great wealth of knowledge and/or benefit from the great community we have here, please be respectful to others and please be respectful of the decisions that I have made as to how I'd like to run my forum.

Also, I know there was a long thread on pimping products from non-sponsors, "spy shots," etc. It might be good to just summarize that discussion so there's no confusion or frustration.
As is stated in our FAQ:

Q. Can I post contact information to Manufacturers and/or Vendors who are not sponsors of this forum?
A. Contrary to what many seem to think, JK-Forum.com and it's sister sites Project-JK.com and MY.Project-JK.com didn't just magically appear on the internet and if it weren't for the help and support of our sponsors, they simply wouldn't exist. And, while we do encourage the open discussion of all products being manufactured or services being offered for the Jeep JK Wrangler, we do not allow contact information such as phone numbers, email addresses or direct links back to manufacturers or vendor unless they are helping to carry the load by being a sponsor of Project-JK.com and its sister sites. Needless to say, any posts containing such information will be edited accordingly.
As far as the spy shots go, I had asked that they not be revealed until their official release as a favor to the company manufacturing it. Likewise, the person who posted the thread was kind enough to respect both the wishes of the company and me as well to which I am grateful for.

LOL!! Believe me, it takes a lot work to be banned from this forum. In fact, out of the 3,200+ member that we have today, only 3 have had the priviledge.

You've put a lot of work into this board and I for one appreciate what is here. Yes I may not agree with the rules but they are not my rules to make. If I decide to come here I get to play by your rules, that's a compromise that I'm willing to make for the really good parts of this forum.
Thanks. That's all I ever ask of anyone.

Best web forum I have ever had the privilege of being a part of, PERIOD. Great people, great moderators, FANTASTIC information. If it gets any better than this, I have never seen it. Thanks Eddie.
