So I am a huge fan of Ford and love F150's. Lately I've been looking at Ford's new 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine and wondering if itd be reasonable to put it in a Wrangler. What would you all need to replace? Would you need a new computer and to rewire everything since its a Ford engine?
a little specs for you as to why I would want to do it.
Ford 3.5L V6 Ecoboost
* Horespower - 365 @ 5000
*Torque (lb.-ft. @rpm - 420 @ 2500
Jeep 3.8-Liter V6
*Horsepower - 202 @ 5200 rpm
*Torque - 237 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm
Jeep 2.5 CRD
*Horsepower - 140 @ 4000
*Torque - 253 @ 2000
Dodge 5.7-liter HEMI V8 MDS dual Variable Valve Timing
*Horespower - 390 @ 5900
*Torque - 407 @ 4000
To me, that engine makes the most sense, it has higher horsepower than most of the others at a lower range (not sure what the HEMI is at at 5000 RPM's). And has more torque than all the others at a much lower range.
What do you guys think?

I cant for the life of me find any place that sells them, so I think I might have to call a Ford dealer and see if I could get a price quote for just the engine through them. Its a new engine so I'm sure it wont be cheap, but it doesnt really have a name for itself yet, like a HEMI to where they can charge more for that.

interesting idea. You'd also have to think about the rest of the drive train.
Is there a transmission/Transfer case set-up that will work?
Drive shafts for said trans/T-case to the axles.
Cross-member and mounts for engine and trans.
You would (i assume) have to tun two computers. One for the Ford engine and one for the rest of the jeep.

That is an awesome engine for sure. Haven't really looked into what it would take to get one to run in something other than a Ford though.
I go out and run the same trails as the CJs with their v8s and lockers and climb all the same hills. If I am on the highway and need more power I just do what I would do in any other vehicle, I down shift and get on the gas. The only thing I have ever driven that didn't have to be down shifted to get more power was a 5.9 cummins, with it you just stomped on the gas pedal and it took off no matter how much it was hauling or towing.
