Fishbone OR flashlight mount question 2dr
Anyone know how to mount a flashlight mount on the 2 door JK with the plastic seat trim?
Do you remove the trim, and drill holes in it? Is the trim held by just two bolts?
Thanks.

Maybe you can learn something from my post: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-w...-mount-355616/
Otherwise the seat trim prob means you're driving a Sahara as our jeep is a sport and because of how I designed the metal bracket no drilling into the seat frame was required.

I have a 2012 2DR MW3/Rubicon. The 2011/12 and up 2drs come with the tumble/fold drivers seat, and the seat frame is different and has a plastic cover plate.
On the 4 doors the holes are on the frame, no drilling needed for the mount. The instructions and pictures I have seen for the 2dr dont really clarify how it’s mounted. I guess this weekend I will just dive into it and see.
I am guessing the rail adjusters might prevent bolting thru the frame, and hope that just drilling into the removed plastic trim will be sturdy enough or if I might need to fabricate a back plate to stiffen the mount and plastic trim.

I'm assuming you have the tilt and tumble. I do as well and I didn't even bother removing the trim. I just used the Maglite clips though, sent a screw right through the plastic. No issues to report.

Just to clarify, the maglite clips are "ok" but will not withstand a forceful pull. we found this out after just one pull as my maglite upgrade post will validate. Get the ruggedridge versions and never look back. Again my idea (a better mouse trap) deals with accessing the falshlight from within side the jeep. if you use the plastic clips these will break, but the metal version do have sharp edges. I just wanted to make sure that my co-pilot can access the flashlight from within the closed door and that I didn't have to do any drilling to the seat frame. Just drill the correct space holes in the bent aluminum. One might even notice we took the time to have the aluminum powder coated black. Just the perks of being friends with a powder coater.
Oh btw, here's a little secret.. The aluminum plate we designed was made this way because at some point we're going to purchase the rechargeable maglite and our plate is large enough to be adapted for the charging station.
