Hey msunlimited, speaking of opinions, I have one..... for a guy who already has his JK you spend way too much time on this forum and way too little time driving it! This forum is for saps like me who are still sitting by the phone waiting for the call from the dealership. Unless you're at work when you're on the forum, like me,......then I guess we can let it slide. lol.
Rookiejeeper...LOL...I pulled the trigger as soon as I saw one sitting on the lot and ordered mine. I need to see what number sahara I ended up getting. I ordered it Sept 15 and got it Oct 8th. Believe me, the longest 3 weeks of my life. But yeah since then, almost 4k miles, a few runs through the mud, creeks and hill climbs. Haven't taken it lately with Christmas around the corner. Didn't want to break anything. (Lame I know) And to answer your question, sitting behind a desk, think'n about Jeeps...waiting for 5.

Hmmm... is there a way to find out what number in production your JK is?

I would be curious to know when mine rolled out and what # it is.

4 wheel disk abs! Abs use to be a joke in the early 90's, but it has came a long way. The 4 wheel disk ABS the new JKs have is amazing. My jeep stops quick, even in snow/ice. But you still have to drive for the weather.

It's all in the VIN I believe. I just don't know how to read it. Not sure if the dealer knows yet either. When I go in for my oil change i'll ask.

[QUOTE= One thing I would do, is take it to a parking lot, empty of course and screw around a little. [/QUOTE]

jamesr, I'm confused, you refering to the wife or jeep? LOL I ordered the Sahara unlimited so I won't have a short wheelbase.

This might be a stupid question but what the hell, I'm a rookie, you can laugh if you want. When in 4Lo what speed shouldn't you go over? I assume there is a max speed you should reach. I guess at a certain point I would just use 4Hi.

no set speed you shouldn't go over, but the rule of thumb i always heard is 25 mph, but 4 low is only for extreme offroad or high torque needs (such as pulling out a suck FJ . You should only ever need 4hi on the road, unless the roads are shut down and not plowed.

Sorry about the short wheel base i still am not use to people having a 4 door! :toung: But it still wouldn't hurt to get use to it sliding before you are on the road with traffic.

Well sure, I didn't mean to imply we only use two wheels to stop. Prettymuch any newish car has ABS so I was trying to point out that they don't really stop any better than an average car..

4 wheel disk abs will stop better than a cavalier with 2 wheel disk. The average car has only 2 wheel disk abs, most still have the ol' brake drum in back.

I used to have a Cavalier (1997? 1998?), it was my first car...

The "ABS" sounded like a machine exploding, with springs "boinging" and gears rattling. It sounded like hell, I thought the car was falling to pieces on me. It kept doing it, so I tried a friend's Cavalier. Same thing. They were all buit the same way, and the ABS stunk. I remember applying the brakes on a slight decline with Blizzak winter tires and the wheels just would not brake!!!!

I almost died in that Cav several times. Traded it in for my very first TJ, a solar yellow 2.5L 5-speed bone stock. LOVED that thing, loved the color. I felt free, like I was a little kid in a Tonka truck! I didn't have ABS in that Jeep, nor in the next TJ, a 4.0cyl 5-speed. Didn't care about the ABS, I was just fine without it for several years. I'm curious to see if 4-wheel ABS is going to feel much safer...
