I ran my tank down to the point I was past "0 miles DTE" and a never before seen "LOW FUEL!" light came on in the dash. I squeamishly made my way to a filling station and put in 16 gallons of gasoline. It turns out, I had more gas left over than I realized.
From the OM:
Low Fuel Warning Light
When the fuel level reaches approximately 2 U.S.
Gallons (7.6L) this light will turn on and a single
chime will sound. The “Low Fuel Warning Light”
may turn on and off again, especially during and after
hard braking, accelerations, or turns. This occurs due to
the shifting of the fuel in the tank.
This jives with the 16 gallons I put in the tank when it was "empty." Apparently, the engineers wanted to save us from ourselves and prevent in-tank fuel pumps from being harmed when the tank runs dry. (A 2-door JK has an 18 gallon tank, but you get to empty at the 16 gallons gone mark.)
Interesting.
Oh, AVE ECO lies! It said I was getting 15.5 MPG all tank long. The real math shows me getting 14.5 MPG around town. Also worthy of mentioning, my in-town range is now 220 miles max (with the aforementioned two gallons "spare" which I'm not willing to play around with).
It will be curious to see what my sustained highway travel will net me for fuel efficiency. Any takers on gas mileage dropping on the slab? 75 MPH is 3,200 RPM. All the way across Nebraska. And Colorado. And half of Utah.
I still like my 4.88s. I think.

What size tires are you running? If you are running bigger tires than stock have you calibrated your speedo for the tire size increase? Also, Manual or Auto? Just curious if I do decide to re-gear to run 35's.

My Rubi isn't far from the 3200 mark at 75 but I try to stay below that unless I'm passing someone or running from the cops, usually 65 or so maybe 70.
My mom always said "That boy has never been in a hurry." and so far as I can tell she's right.

I am happy with my 4:88's as well, but my gas consumption went to heck. I get around 14 to 15 in town and cannot get better than 16 highway. I also run around 3200 rpm at 75. I have the 6-speed. I was told by everyone that the rpm's would go back to where they were when I had the 3:21's, but that was bogus. I never saw any real drop in rpms after putting on the 35's.
