I have on 07 with almost 67,000 miles and no issues....(Knock on wood)

X2 that is not a factory installed tow package. When I ordered mine it was 4.10's but it was early '08 and they switched to 3.73's. It's a simple thing for a dealer to add the hitch and wiring, but I can't imagine any of them changing out the gears.

So far the only thing of any consiquense was a TIPM problem that shut the JK down intermitantly a couple years ago. Replaced under warranty.

Maybe check out the (many) mileage threads - the highest mileage JKs are prob 2007's (my 07 has 90K miles). It might give you a sense for people's experiences. I think you can expect the typical / relatively minor issues on the 07's and prob other years as well. Get a sense of the key issues others have had (stall, top leaks, etc) and then you can try to check if the JK you're looking at has had any TSBs or recalls taken car of (if the dealer is honest). If the dealer looks at you and says he has never heard of a 07 stalling or the soft top leaking, you know to walk away. If you got a good deal and the price is right for you it is prob worth it. You can sink the savings into mods! But I agree with others that you might check to make sure a deal on a newer one isn't a better option.
