Default ESP/BAS indicator light on after offroad run?

Just had an Awesome weekend out at Cougar Buttes for Roctoberfest 2010! It was my first "real" offroading experience. (other than tame fire roads). My 07 Rubi 4dr did great. Not long after I left today and hit the pavement my ESP/BAS indicator turned on. My wife was driving the Jk following my in our camper, I told her if it feels fine we'll deal with it at home. Once we hit freeway speed she noticed steering issues. we made it home, light still on. So with the steering wheel straight the Jeep goes alittle right. Could the ESP/BAS be applying the brake and cause this?

Thanks, Don

If you steering is off a little....you probably just need to adjust the drag link. Once you make the adjustment and your steering wheel is straight the light will go off .....the system is picking up that your steering wheel is off and has disengaged the EPS.

That happened to me....adjusted it and it went away.

AFAIK the system should only be applying the brakes if the traction light is flashing. If the Jeep is always going right then I'd guess that the tie rod or drag link got slightly bent and needs to be adjusted. When doing this, check that all the wheel sensors are undamaged as well as the wiring.

If the Jeep goes right when the wheel is straight, then does the wheel need to be turned slightly to drive straight? If so, that is your problem.

had this happen and ended up having to replace my steering gear box which fixed it.

that will fix your issue, nothing to worry about it may take an adjustment or two to get it perfect
