Not checking to make sure the sunrider top was latched properly.....
Started raining on I95, pulled onto the shoulder, flipped the top closed and latched it. (or so I thought) Got going about 80 mph and the damn thing ripped opened.... Gave me a heart attack and I'm not sure how I didn't drive off the highway. Now I always double check the latches and make sure the bars are in the locked position....

There are many - but you asked for the dumbest... I had my wipers up while I was cleaning the windshield and some time later leaving them up I opened the hood - it puts really interesting scratches on the hood - who knew the edges of the wipers were so sharp? That was in the first month of ownership....
