dogs and no doors

Took a short piece of triple twisted nylon dock line, spliced in a clip on each end. Clip one end to the rings between the back and bottom of the seat, the other to a dog harness from the pet store and you're set. Almost as good as the seatbelt you use. My dog doesn't mind it and she can move around to each side of the Jeep.

The only time I've ever had mine get out was when I was in the Commander. I ran into Michaels crafts to pick up a picture frame for my wife. I spent about 10 minutes finding the right size and as I'm walking towards the front of the store, I see my Carolina dog, Brodie walk by the isle looking for me and then take off running towards me. He saw what store I went in and with the automatic doors, he just headed straight in. It was pretty funny at the time...

I use smittybilts cargo net.. It's easy to take on and off and the dogs can roam around in the back.. By the way it's a little loose fitting but worth the money since I go out to the lake alot during summer.

for those just using a dog leash around their neck and up to their rollbars?
Not too smart at all.
Ever see what happens to a dog in an accident that is only secured by the leash around their neck? or no restraint at all?
Spend a few dollars on your dogs safety in your rigs not only for your dog, but for yourself and passengers.
Having your dog get ejected out of the truck (or into you) and hurt or killed will haunt you for life once you've seen it happen. A harness is the best way to go. There are pleanty of choices, sizes out there and not at all expensive.
Thanks to those that have posted up pics shwing how their harness is installed on their dogs.

I yell "jeep ride!" and all 3 go nuts, attack the back door, bark their asses off.
No top, windows down no problem.
Yell "Jeep ride!" and they haul ass to the jeep till they see no doors, then run back in the house.
I pick them up pit them in the jeep and they all sit in the back shivering away. Once in awhile one will crawl towards the front just to check the doors are still gone.
I lay the back seats down and one figured out how to get underneath and lay on the floor.
Still don't know how that one figured it out or how he even fits.

A harness doesn't protect your dog that well unless it holds them firmly to the seat and immobile. My buddies dog was killed wearing a harness after a 30mph collision. Snapped his neck. I keep mine unsecured for their safety.
