I hate to be the rain cloud but, regardless of what you petition for it means Jack and Crap to the EPA.
It's not Chrysler but the United State Government that kills the use and importation of good Diesels.
I can hop off the plane in Berlin, pick up an A4 TDI or Mondeo TDI, drive all day at 220kph, go to separate meeting in Munich and get 40mpg. All in a vehicle you don't even realize is a Diesel. To have that in the states? No way, no how, they don't run on low sulfur and it can never be federalized. If by some fluke it was federalized, it would be so neutered you wouldn't want it anyway.
Also, do you really want a vehicle that you would now have to add piss (Urea) in a separate tank to, thanks to to Tier 4 (I think) Diesel Emissions?
Don't forget that the bulk demographic and largest sold block of JK's is the Unlimited, with at least 70% of those as Haus-Frau taxis. Do you really think that Soccer Mom Suzy wants a "smelly" Diesel? I'm not complaining about the main Demographic (since thanks to them the brand stays alive)
I tip my hat to your efforts (and signed the petition) but, I really think you'd stand a better chance petitioning for an SRT 6.4L powertrain.
PS, the 4BT conversions are already out and running very well in the JK.
