It's a good idea so if you need to use it, it's similar in size/ tread to the others. For myself though my spare is still brand new and I haven't been cycling it in with rotations

Sure do. Tires last 20% longer also.

Yes. It seems like a waste of a good tire not to.

I rotate mine in at every other oil change. I may not get the same brand or size the next time I need tires. It seems like waste after you paid so much for it. I can't see why you wouldn't.

My tires came with life time balance and rotate, unfortunately living in the town I do it is about 45 minutes away for me to get this done. So I rotate myself (5 tire), when I do each oil change, every third oil change I head in for a re-balance. Tires are expensive, especially once you get above a 35, I paid for the fifth tire, might as well get some use out of it. Did this on my last set of tires and got close to 60,000 miles out of them.

Additionally, as finicky as the ESP and all that other electronic nonsense the JK's have is if you have a brand new spare and throw it on when your tires have 30% tread left your dash will look like a Christmas tree

A friend here pointed this out to me, if I stick with the same size tire and brand I can not rotate in the spare and only buy 4 tires instead of 5 and use one of the new ones as a spare and rotate in the tire that was previously the spare with the new set.
