I have the rugged ridge one. It actually didn't fit properly and I had to slightly bend the piece. Its not going to stop a professional but it can prevent little punks from messing around. I mean if they took the batteryg I would be pissed.(there are amateurs around my neighborhood)
But my hood lock is nothing special...jus something to slow them down.
Also today it was very windy here and I got hit with a strong draft of wind that my hood popped up slighlty..it made me feel a little better I had that lock as a third latch.

I worry about vandals, not crooks. They might want to smash, rip, or do whatever to the engine and such. It's one thing to have my top slashed and eggs thrown inside (this actually happened to my friends Eclipse). And, it's another for it not to start, be out of commission for who knows how long, and cost who knows how much. Or worse, have it break down while driving.

I put a few zip ties on the latches. Keeps the casual person from walking by and opening the hood but anyone with a pocketknife can open it. Might buy some stainless steel ones.
