Default Diesel JK spotted

I was driving up Woodward avenue here in the Detroit area. I pulled up behind a green JK with manufacturers plates and a CRD badge. I snapped a shot with my cell phone. I apologize for the image quality. But you can make out the manufacturer's plate (the M in the middle of the plate) and the CRD badge.

Good catch!

My heart tells me that they're testing for North American release.

My head tells me it ain't gonna happen.

My wallet tells me no way I can afford a new one OR an engine swap.

Sigh

It's a Michigan plate. Like I said this is a manufacturer's car, probably with an engineer driving it.

Here in Michigan when you see an "M" in the middle of the plate it indicates it's a manufacturer's plate.

Definitely a Euro or Aus CRD from that rear bumper. Notice the red fog lights and licence plate blanking plug? Did you notice which side the driver was on? We have just received the first shipment of CRD "Off Road Group" Wranglers down under: a CRD with D44 rear locker, ESDs and 3.73 diffs (stockers are 3.21). The Rubicon hasn't become available with a diesel yet, but now we've got a pretty good alternative.

Def an export - you can see the driver is on the right hand side. And he's texting while driving!
