Default Diesel or 5.7L

Alright. Taking the current engine selections. Which would you prefer. The Grand Cherokee 3L diesel or a 5.7L V8? I know there is a horse power difference, but the torque and mpg is the decision maker...I know this is worthless chat, but curious on what the community has to say....especially in regards to the 2016's for next get....

No comparison diesel hands down! Greater torque at a lower rpm that flatlines and stays consistent. Diesel will always produce a better avg mpg then gas. Add a tune to it and you can have greater power/torque or better fuel economy. I'm still waiting to hear how jeep speed shop is coming along with their 3L swap.

I'd love to see the diesel in the JK. I'd totally buy one.

To me diesel is the way to go. The 6.4 is a great engine but not worth the extra 12-30k depending on where you get it. It just baffles me that we don't see more diesel upgrades vs the hemi.

I didnt drive a 5.7 but I did test drive both the diesel and the V6. The diesel more than impressed me.

Depending on where you live, the diesel won't pass emissions. So its either a Hemi or a garage paperweight

Edit, I see you were not asking about the JK....my bad

Diesel would also be a hassle in extremely cold weather.

That is true with some diesels but my 2008 3.0L doesn't know what season it is. Starts within seconds at -30 c. German built Mercedes engine. It gets cold there
