Did you get 4x4 or 2WD

Point being none of the vehicles mentioned provides a substitute for the Wrangler. I bet a lot of people would really like a 4-door true convertible vehicle that don't need 4x4. The 4x2 Wrangler meets the particular needs of that market segment - Jeep's other SUVs do not.

Thanks Cab. At first I (also) misunderstood your point. Glad you clarified it.
Ok gang. It's Christmas. I think we solved this one.

wow
its just like someone buying a 'low end' computer... they will wish they didn't in about 3-4 months...
'hey, wanna go 4-wheeling'? -
'my JK is only 2 wheel drive...'
'ohh, uhh, well, yea... uhh. you see...' (runs off screaming)...
What is the EXACT MPG difference? Between unlocking the Xfer case, and the hubs riding on ball bearings, can the 4x4 really be that much worse?
I coulnd't live with a 4x2... but if that's someone's choice they will only pay for it later...
Resale on a 4x2 is going to be worse as well... no matter how old a 4x4 truck is, in PA, in the Winter, its worth something... a 4x2... not so much...

SO mpg wise I believe it's about a 1mpg gain. Not big but starting from 16 it's something. It may not impact highway mpg since the gain is from not accelerating the added weight around town. As far as regretting the 4wd choice, some people just don't have the 4WD gene. They will never miss it. And as far as resale value goes. The 2wd unlimiteds will replace the 4cly jeeps in the resale foodchain. And they may still do better than some think, since so many SUV's are sold now that never leave pavement. Now you can still buy (ANYTHING BUT A MINI VAN) a Jeep and use the savings to pay for DVD or some other multi child sedating device.

Would not personally own anything but 4wd. However, I live in an area comprised of primarily dirt roads to get to anywhere. We get very littlle ice ever, but a good amount of rain. Lots of roads get unpassable without 4wd on our farm.
That being said 2wd makes a lot of sense for a lot of people. Have a few buddies who are buying 2wd just to own a Wrangler but could not imagine why anyone would drive their vehicle off of a perfectly good paved road....
Makes sense for some...just not for most of us here.

I guess I am actually a Soccer Dad. I coach 2 teams for 2 seasons each year and have 4wd. :toung: Not to mention taking the kids to swimming, tee-ball, wrestling, movies, and off-road! My Jeep is very utilitarian.
