Default Detroit lockers?

Are they good for daily driving?

Not really, but people do it. Definitely wouldn't put one in the front.

I did it for years on my YJ. But like Jtrain hinted to, it's not a whole lot of fun. The soft locker came out years ago and it was a little less "harsh"than the original, but they are still brutal compared to an open diff. If it snows where you live, you'll be begging to turn it off sometimes. I had selectable locking hubs on my YJ so I didn't have to deal with it in the front. That brings in a totally new set of driving characteristics by itself.

With a locker on front with no way to disconnect it from engaging, it occasionally does it on it's own when you're not expecting it.

So what would be the best option for daily driving, and cost effective?

My friend has one in his stang here. It's funny when he goes around corners because it locks up and makes a shit load of noise. From me its going to be a ox locker

Anyone have any experience with the Aussie locker? Just ordered one for my front.

I have the detroit locker in the rear, and the true trac in the front and love it. My wife even drives it and dosnt complain. You cant punch the pedal on tight turns. Apart from that I never know its under there The new Detroit soft lockers are not the same as the old style Detroits.

I had an aussie locker up front on my YJ, it was the best upgrade at the time for me.
