The pictures were removed upon the request of rramsdell, who started the thread.

There is a thread on here about automatic transmission overheating. Do you think there is a link between the two?

I often wonder if anyone at Chrysler reads this, or any other forum relating to their product, to learn what is happening on customers vehicles.

Oh, i would bet every dollar in my bank that they are fully aware of this thread, or any other ones like it anywhere. Web search bots are cheap insurance for a car company to keep tabs on forum complaints, they would be complete fools not to be monitoring it, and i do not believe they are fools at all.

Please do file a complaint with the NHTSA. I have dealt with them recently on some of my issues and they are great people. Really concerned with the citizen and not bought off by big business like most of our government. I was thoroughly impressed with them and they DO listen and take things very seriously. Much more than the manufacturer who usually cares more about money than safety!

2 burned vehicles divided by the number of members is roughly 0.00025%, or 25 vehicles per 100,000 (if my math is correct).

Not so small a number if you think about it.

Thank God you are alright.

This is very concerning, especially since it does sound so similar to Trailbud's experience. Even though the dealership was clueless when I tried to talk to them about the transmission concerns, I made sure they pulled the codes and verified the P0218 so that it is on record with Chrysler. At least if I have any future problems I can say "I told you so."

I posted that in the show & tell area under "hot unlimited". It was a rental so I'm sure it was an automatic. It was driving slowly through grass/brush and left a visible trail of flame in the grass before the jeep was engulfed.
We have assumed it was started by a hot cat. converter since we've had this problem with other vehicles on jobsites as well.

Thankk God everyone is OK.

We shouldnt have to wait for someone to get badly hurt or killed before Jeep searches for a root cause and fixes it.
