Destroyed JK
#102
im new to the world of JK's as I just picked mine up a week ago.. however not new to the world of Jeep and also not new to the world of driving JK's.. i rent them in almost every business trip i go on that I can....
Last month I was in a 2007 2 dr X Auto trans rented (it had been built in sept of 06) and as I was going along the highway at 75 MPH i began to smell something a little warm then pretty soon(a few seconds) had a cabin full of smoke and then a lot of crackling( fortunately I had the top and windows down so I could still breathe).. just lucky as there was a statie on a traffic stop off to the side.. I quickly pulled over, jumped out and yelled 'FIRE!' he grabbed his 2 extuingishers from the cruiser and we both went at the jeep.. I under the hood and him under the dash.. the fire was beaten down but many electric wires were sizzling.. the officer grabbed his bolt cutters and cut the main battery wire which kept the jeep from burning up. this came upon within a few seconds.. I asked the rental company last week when they cleared the claim on their insurance and all they said was "manufacturing defect and the jeep is now in the hands of the manufacturer".. not sure if these fires are related but just thought id add this in... in my case the Jeep wasnt fully engulfed.. in fact there is just minor warping of the dash and lots of extuingisher foam everywhere.. however a lot of wires melted.. there are no pics because it was near dark and cell phone cams dont take great pics in the dark.

This will make 6 jeeps so far that I know about. Maybe you could provide more info about this. IM me if you don't want to post here. I am fully prepared to follow through with DC about these issues.

Well meet one that calls hers a mall crawler
I take it to the mall sometimes...even though it no longer fits in the parking garage!
...and I'm pretty sure I'm not a troll

For the record, if somebody jokingly calls their Wrangler a mall crawler, it doesn't make them a troll. You ever think he just might be being modest among a site full of built up rigs. Everybody's got to drive a daily driver, why not make it the coolest vehicle on the planet.
