Default Deep water, have you been there?

I've been reading some CAI threads and there are varying opinions as to what is deep water. So I'm just wondering how deep in water have you gone through and got out of without outside assistance? I'm not looking for "whoops" stuff, just what the jeep can go in and get out of on it's own.

I was following another JK, the water starting just coming up over my fenders. I said "screw this" and kicked it into reverse, as I did that I saw the guy in front do the same (he was in over his hood AEV snorkel) and I saw his ass end start to float. He was able to get some purchase and get out though.

It was a shitty feeling. And I had about 3 inches of water in my foot wells. Water was coming in from the shifter entrance point. Thankfully no damage. And the other side of my K and N was dry.

Did a trail with numerous water crossings, all 1-2 feet, no issues at all.

This is pretty much your limit without a snorkel...

Wow, I guess everything turned out okay. I'd definitely be skittish about fording water moving that fast. Are you guys running CAIs, and if so, what brand? Thanks.

Default 3-4'

I got in a little too deep at a place called the Corbet (sp?) here in Florida. I went into the "puddle" on a different line than I came out on and I almost $h!t myself when the hood dipped in and h20 gently cascaded off of the flender things. Since it's exactly 3' to my bumper I'm guessing it was almost 4'. I have an airaid CAI and it was bone dry. Fun but I wouldn't do it again w/o a (RR!) snorkel!
