Daystar Upper Dash Panel
#23
To pull the stock cover, just wedge a flat wide blade screwdriver under the sides towards the front (the "windshield side") and rotate the cover up, popping the two metal clips out under the cover that hold the cover in place there. Then rotate the front up and towards you a little. The cover then slides off towards you. Placing a rag under the screwdriver will prevent denting the plastic that surrounds the cover. Easy. Notice the compass module is attached to the underside of the cover. That has an electrical connector that you can snap off, to get better access at removing the screws that hold the module to the cover. The Daystar cover has provisions for re-mounting the module to the underside of the cover, just like the stock cover.

The Daystar Upper Dash Pannel was my first mod. I happen to like the look of it installed as the break in flat expanse of dash appeals to me as does the slightly darker color. Laying a Droid that is on in either holder will mess with the direction reported by the compass module. Thought I would use it more than I do. I find myself just setting stuff in the cup holders instead. My son and I share this Jeep and he balked at the bungee mod, me I'd do it. Would I buy it again yeah, is it the best money we've spent on the jeep? Nah.

Thank you
So that is why the compas seems like it is off and then next time I focus on it , all seems fine. I normally keep my blackberry up there in the Daystar. Can't store it in my shirt pocket cause it screws up my pacemaker, now it screws up my compass. Maybe time to get rid of the blackberry. hahahaha
Enjoy.
Enjoy.

My phone is in my pocket and my sunglasses are either on my head or on the console next to the cupholders. I just couldn't justify paying anything for it. I'm not saying it's bad, I just don't want things laying on top of my dash unless they're serving some purpose.
