Make sure your tires are aired up, reduces sidewall flex and L/R changes in the contact patches. The more you're aired down the greater the differences in L/R contact patches which create rolling resistance and exaggerates the effect of cross winds.

Yeah in the wind I have to drive it more carfully to keep it in the lines with the wind. The adjustable control arms however fixed a lot of wandering issues for me.

Our 07 4dr JK drives every bit as well as the 04XJ. To be honest, I'm impressed with the handling in the JK. We traded the wifes 99XJ for it, and she likes the JK much better than her XJ.
As many have stated the aerodynamics of a box on wheels is not going to be that good.

The real trick is while you are turning against the wind and go under an overpass and for half a second the wind stops blowing You now are turning hard the other way then bam back into the wind again.

It sux but what can you do

Plan for the winds and anticipate which way it is going to move!

It's a Jeep. My 2dr likes to keep me from getting sleepy.

Having a brick on wheels with a crosswind or worse yet a head wind sux. but that one time you get a nice tailwind and that mpg goes waaaayyyy up I took a trip to Idaho this summer as was getting 23-24 mpg per the display.

I had the same issues for about a year and just accepted it as the nature of the beast. After installing wheel spacers (just because I liked the wider stance) I found that the sway decreased noticably.

When I was considering my JK purchase, crash rating, mpg, and aerodynamics where the last thing on my mind.
If thats what some of you think about when purchasing one, you should move on, this is not the vehicle for you.

My JK is great compared to the '78 CJ with a 4" lift and no swaybars that I drove after college...
